AMP Fundamentals (video courses- 3)

Client History, Moving Fascia, and Working With Pain

The Fundamentals video course provides essential background for working with clients with injuries. The first video introduces Advanced Movement Principles and how to take a detailed client history, the second video introduces key insights from fascia science into our understanding of movement and the third video updates our understanding of pain through the lens of modern pain science.

Video and In-Person Course

Learn how to bring lasting improvement and life-changing benefits to clients with low back pain in this comprehensive course. Including 18 hours of in-person instruction and 8 hours of video material, this course provides a practical framework to assess, understand and improve posture, functional skills and athletic performance for any client with low back pain. You will come away with a structured plan for assessing clients with low back issues and a clear understanding of exercise progressions to improve their functional outcomes.

AMP: The Lower Body

Video and In-Person Course

The lower body is the center of strength, endurance, and functional movement. When misalignments or injuries in the hip, knee, ankle or foot are present, we lose ease, economy and efficiency. This course includes 18 hours of in-person instruction and 10 hours of video material. You will come away with a structured plan for assessing lower body alignment, myofascial balance and functional abilities and a clear understanding of exercise progressions to improve performance and minimize injuries.

AMP: The Upper Body

Video and In-Person Course

Take a fresh look at the upper body and deepen your ability to understand and train the thoracic and cervical spine, shoulder and upper limb to maximize efficiency and minimize injuries. This complicated area can best be understood by looking at the whole system, which we cover in 18 hours of in-person training and 8 hours of video material. You will come away with invaluable insights for assessing and correcting misalignments and myofascial imbalances in the upper body.

AMP: Special Conditions

Video Course

This is the fifth and final segment of the program and includes information from experts in the movement field on working with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Ehlers Danlos (hypermobility) syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and a general introduction to autoimmune diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system. This module includes many examples of conditions requiring a high degree of customization and sensitivity to the specific needs of the client.

Yes! Both video and live course offer CEC’s from the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) and American Council on Exercise (ACE). If you need credit for another organization, we can provide the information needed to petition for credit.

Yes! This course is open to any teacher who has completed a comprehensive Pilates teacher training program and has been teaching for three years. In order to get the most out of the course, we recommend students who did not go through Balanced Body Education take Balanced Body Movement Principles.

Yes, you are welcome to take the video courses at any time. If you want to join a live class later, you will get credit for the video.

The videos include essential information on anatomy, movement principles and common pathologies for the area. They make the information delivered in the live course more meaningful. Even if you have a strong background in those areas, the video is highly recommended as a comprehensive resource.

Live courses are offered by Balanced Body Authorized Training Centers around the world. Look on the Education Finder under Advanced Movement Principles to find courses in your area. If you would like to offer the program at your facility, contact the Balanced Body Education office and they can help you arrange an onsite training.

This program was designed to do two things.

  • To uplevel your ability to use movement to work safely and effectively with common misalignment, imbalances and injuries.
  • To elevate participants in the program by showing the world that you have done additional work and are a highly skilled Pilates professional.

Both of these goals will enhance your teaching opportunities and help you stand out from your peers when applying for teaching positions at studios, health clubs and wellness facilities.

This course is designed to be completed over 18 months to 2 years. The process is to watch a video, attend a live class and then work with the material for a few months before taking the next course.

In order to gain recognition as a Balanced Body Advanced Movement Practitioner, you will need to complete all the video and live coursework and submit three case studies to your teacher. The case studies will document your experience working with a client over a period of time so you can gain insights into how to progress a client toward greater health and well-being.

Each live course is accompanied by monthly online mentoring sessions where you can get your questions answered.
